Complaint
On the 19th of June 2008, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the
Okaloosa Youth Development Center at 4449 Straight Line Rd in Crestview Florida.
The staff on scene advised that multiple subjects were rioting and battering
staff at this facility. Several members of the Sheriff's Office arrived on scene
and retook control of this facility. Eight youths on scene were determined to
either have battered staff members or incited a riot. Three of these subjects
were adults and they were transported to the Okaloosa County Jail. Five of these
subjects were juveniles and they were transported to the Department of Juvenile
Justice and remanded to their custody. The only injuries incurred during this
incident was one of the staff member received scratches and a possible injury to
one of his knees.

CRESTVIEW - Several teenagers face charges for inciting a riot at the Youth
Development Center on Thursday, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's
Office.
When deputies arrived, several staff members had been battered and had locked
themselves inside a room for protection.
The riot involved at least 20 youths, lawmen said.
Victor Shaver and Antonio Gallashaw, both 16, Jalil Paul and Jerry Simmons Jr.,
both 18, and 19-year-old Demario Smith were charged with inciting a riot and
battery of staff.
James Taylor, Torrey Jones and Hiawassee Watson, all 17, were charged only with
inciting a riot.
