What:
My son has just arrived at Collier academy on thursday. When he called home on
Tuesday for his 10 munute allowable time, he was very upset and to do everything
possible to get him out of the there, but he could not talk he just pleaed with
me to get him out of there. The following morning I called and the usual BS he
is home sick, it is his first week, he is ok, etc. being persisitant I again
called and told his case manager to please check on him. I explained that I was
on the Justice 4 kid website and I saw a an incident happening in May about a
child being beaten and I was extremely worried, I was told I should not believe
everything I see on this website few incidents do occur but over rate is good.
What ever that means. On June 25 his theapist called to introduce himself and I
took the opportunity to speak to my son for a few minutes at which time he told
me not to worry about him that he was okay. Confused I asked him what happened
he told me that 4 boys had jusmped him Tuesday nite and the his back was getting
better. I e-mail the case manager Ms. Paez and she never reponeded however Irene
Juarez the manager e-mailed me and told me it was being handled that a couple of
boys were going around beating up other boys as the roated the 10 minute shifts.
This is the second incident that has been reported and I assume many more have
not. What is the State doing about this. Why are there no SECUTITY CAMERAS. I
want a full investigation of this incident, with no retailation from Collier
Academy against my son. My son is there for 6 months for therapy not to get
beaten up. DJJ is suppose to insure parents that their children are being care
for in a safe environment. All I am asking is for DJJ to do their job.

Subject: JUSTICE4KIDS.ORG: Collier Academy allegations - youth beatings by
unsupervised youth
Chantelle,
Please provide the CCC incident report # based on the below-described
allegations received at JUSTICE4KIDS.ORG regarding Collier Academy lack of
supervision of youth whereby 'a couple of boys were going around beating up
other boys'.
Per Collier Academy Program Manager Irene Juarez 6/26/08, " . . . there were at
least 3 boys involved in intimidating and even harming youth in a certain part
of the facility." and "As an update to the investigation, my staff have great
rapport with youth and managed to gain critical details and names of those
alleged to be attacking other youth."
Please respond with the CCC #.
