Cathy, is it possible that J4K could request a copy of the so-called "corrective action plan" for Hastings for display on J4K? Securicor/G4S and compliant/enabling DJJ officials have used this tactic on more than one occasion in the past. First all problems areas are concealed or ignored and allowed to continue until either a catastrophe occurs or the problems are outed by outside resources (families, the media, etc); Canned QA reviews facilitate the cover-up of problem areas. When a disclosure of a serious problem/s (violence, contamination, drugs, death, etc)does elude the veil of corporate/DJJ secrecy to reach exposure; Securicor and DJJ will immediately act to shut-down information as much as posible while official denials, excuses and the scapegoat selection process takes place. DJJ will then work with their contractor in the developement of a "corrective action" in order to quell any public or governmental interest as quickly as possible. Since the so-called "corrective action" is usually created, implemented and monitored by the same guilty parties that allowed the initial problems to occur in the first place;the whole mess can generally be swept under the carpet; so that Securicor can continue to collect millions in state dollars without even a short delay for the suffering of incarceratated kids, or other grievious infractions. An honest indepth review of the true story of Hastings would most likely provide a case book example of Securicor's standard defense methodologies. We've seen this charade played out at Cypress Creek,Polk City and most everywhere in this state that this huge international company has linked up with corrupt and/or incompetent DJJ officials. I'd be willing to bet that there hasn't even been a written "corrective action" document created. Securicor knows that they "own" the DJJ Residential and QA Officials(and possibly our missing-in-action boy Gus as well by now). Why should a big-money connected company worry about little problems like drugs, escapes, sexual abuse, neglect, mold contamination, violence and a dead kid or two every now and then. The sweet DJJ contracts and the flow of public cash just keeps on keepin on. Maybe when Rex returns fron "assessing the conditions in Teas facilities" he could send a copy of the Hastings report along to J4K for all of us Tax-paying suckers to look over, but don't bet on it.
