These are e-mail messages received by justice4kids.org about Florida's juvenile justice system (JJS) in general and the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) in particular. Messages are about staff, youth and conditions within the system. The only way conditions will ever change is when people speak out. 	09/30/06 Other: The reason you don't see most of the top DJJ muckity-mucks around the state is that Jeb dosen't want people to observe how worthless they really are. If folks actually realized how badly we are getting hosed it might prove very embarrassing. Pifer, Chervanik,Lorenzo,Mackelroy,Eggers; what an expensive wasteland those DJJ offices in Tallahasse are! The big "Knishe" takes the prize. The quaility of this sorry assemblage can be well judged by the current state of DJJ. ~Anonymous
	09/30/06 Osceola JDC: I'd have to see it to believe it. An honest,intelligent DJJ supervisor would be very rare; like a white buffalo or a two headed turtle. Someone at DJJ must have really messed up an accidentally hired a capable leader. This could be a good omen. ~Suspicious
	09/30/06 Orange JDC: Williams knocked up the Secratary. What can of place am I working at? People are to conserned with doing eachother than coming to work everyday and that is probably why I have to work all my blue dots becuase all these people are to TIRED to show up. ~Disgusted SRJDO

	09/30/06 Governor Candidates: To the next Governor (Crist or Davis), If you want your administration to be free of corruption,you must rid state government of the corruption at DJJ. Much of the leadership is tainted from years of "behind the scenes" deals,political connections, cozy relationships with lobbyists and contractors and slovenly organizational management. If you are a man of honor you will clean house and start anew with capable professionals that possess proper educational credentials and clean records. ~Voter
	09/30/06 Leon JDC: Regarding the Leon JDC posting about a need for an inspection. Forget an internal , IG or QA inspection. These are generally just a charades put on to cover for the Department. Only an outside review will do any good because of the lack of integrity in the Department. ~Eye Witness
	09/30/06 Miami-Dade JDC: To Officer Peter's at Miami-Dade.I have heard that you was turned down for a Supervisor position, because you had a suspended in the past.Ok Ofcr Peters if you want to make a issue out of that!!Ask the Depatrment how could you have a Supervisor that is Act as a Adm. that has been suspend atleast 2 times.Yes i am talking bout David Delancy. He also was involved in many abuse investigation.He also was involved with a incident with a officer by the name of Dingle.He resigned becasue David Delancy snitched him out, to save he's on neck.It is public records you know!! ~Someone thats has it on documentation (2 suspension)
	09/30/06 Orange JDC: Pregnant officers are treated the same as any other officer, there is no such thing as light duty on the job unless you are injured on the job. If they cannot perform their duties then they need to go out on their leave, plain and simple. Its amazing that people see pregnancy as a disablilty, and Im sure they are aware of the risks even if they werent pregnant, it was their choice to choose the job they do and asume the risk involved. ~Bezel
	09/30/06 Miami-Dade JDC: ...I know for a fact that those to officer can help because,I went to them with a write up that I have received.It had more lop holes in it, than Delancy fake ass briefings and Dale bulls*t ass lies he tells and also mistakes than number of relatives that Mrs. Hinson has working thier on A-Shift.Cathy what is the rule on nepotism? 	09/30/06 Miami-Dade JDC: ...Once again we have another kiss ass officer's writting s*t... Read the labor law ass and and you would know that they cant forces us to work all those hours.I have contacted the labor board... Just the other day Walter Davis was out at the Detention Center in a meeting with the Dale and His Get Fresh Ass Kissing Crew.Trying to get the stolen property s*t straight.For you to talk the crap that you do... 	09/29/06 Orange JDC: If a serious injury or death should occur at Orange JDC after the numerous warnings and indications of irregularities that have been demonstrated on this board ,it will be grounds for prosecution of the leadership that allowed the problems to exist and go uncorrected. Pifer,Chinault and Williams will not be able to shift the blame to others. Hopefully the facility will be investigated before a tragedy occurs. ~Parent
	09/29/06 DJJ Policy: This week's winner of the "DJJ Genius of the Week Award" is given to the scholarly and articulate "Hurricaine" of Miami-Dade. The unique writing style of this illustrious author is of the same caliber as the works of the renown Scarlett,Zack and the other talented writers of the fount of intellectualism that is Miami-Dade JDC. DJJ can be proud of the expressive skills and demonstrated intelligence this employee and of this facility as representatives of the level of excellence we have come to expect from the Department. ~Award Committee
	09/29/06 Other: To Tax Payer, It angers me to know that I am working every day to pay the salary of individuals like Anthony Schembri. He may get more for one speech than I earn in six months but I never lied or cheated to make a dollar and I never took advantage of messed-up kids and their families. Shame on Schembri and shame on our state government that allows such things to occur. ~Anonymous
	09/29/06 Orange JDC: To Concerned Officer, Good Question. What is an eight month pregnant woman doing at work? She should be charged with the neglect and abuse of her poor little unborn child. Why would she put her kid at risk? A woman should take responsibolity for their own health and not expect everyone to carry their load. Does she have a husband? He should be supporting her until she can work again safely. ~A Mother

	09/29/06 Orange JDC: If anybody is unable to do the job they should stay home (pregnant or not). DJJ should provide condums for the evening shifts, that might help solve this problem. ~Anonymous
	09/29/06 Other: To Tax Payer, Good questions. If you recall Schembri was involved with the scandal in New York where hundreds of his subordinates left work to work for Republican candidates. Maybe Bush and Gugliani felt like the knishe had earned a soft landing after he was caught with his chubby hand in the till in NYC. The reason he hasn't been fired at DJJ after all the deaths and other scandalous incidents, could be that Bush dosen't want another of his appointees to embarrass him. I can't believe a new Governor will keep him around long. ~Voter
	09/29/06 Orange JDC: A woman eight months pregnant should keep herself and her unborn baby safe at home. If she has a husband he should show some manhood and look out for her. If she don't have a husband... Oh well.. it is DJJ. ~Anonymous
	09/29/06 DJJ Policy: To J4K, Cathy ,do you know if there has ever been a public explanation of just the specific tasks performed by all of those so-called "key staff" in the Tallahassee DJJ offices. We see the impressive titles and pay-scales but the specific job functions are questionable. I hear that the Secretary is rarely seen doing anything... that the formal educational training of most of these individuals is for the most part, not in areas related to human development or rehabilitation. Most are apparently political appointees... That could well explain the current state of DJJ... ~Tax Payer

If the recent posting about you is accurate, you will be a very welcome addition. It may be difficult for you to maintain your integrity in a corrupt organization. 	09/29/06 Leon JDC: What is happening at Leon Detention Center? Why is everyone leaving? There must be a problem? Is there anyone going to look into this? Officers, tell me what's wrong. Don"t be afraid. Should there be an internal or IG investigation done within DJJ? ("Ha Ha".) Something is happening. Maybe the DJJ leaders don't want to find out. Leon Detention officers,I am afraid of losing my job, but we got to find out what's going on. If we don't, we all may not have a job. Someone please respond. 	09/29/06 Osceola JDC: Somebody call Ripley's ! Break our the band and uncork the bubbly. If it is true that DJJ actually employed a capable supervisor, that is really unbeliveable, awesome news. I hear there're having a blizzard in Hades. Let's just be sure that Supervisor Lopez doesn't turn out to be a ringer. Hopefully he isn't one of the typical lazy, stupid,on-duty sleeping, screwing the help, DJJ supervisors disguised as a quality employee. Maybe this is a trick. Osceola keep us posted. 	09/29/06 Governor Candidates: It is a shame that niether major gubernatorial candidate has spoken out forcefully on the disgraceful conduct of DJJ. The latest cover-up attempt related to the Palm Beach JDC was a very clear indication of the corrupt practices that have become the standard for the Department. Multiple Deaths,as well as incidents of contamination, abuse and fraud should have provided adequate cause for a major revamping as well as possible criminal prosecutions. The current DJJ leadership at all levels has become ingrained in a corrupt system of deceit and concealment... ~Tax Payer
	09/29/06 Miami-Dade JDC: Zakery, You got a big ego problem. Find something else to do with your computer. The primary reason Miami-Dade is a mess is the low-lifes that DJJ has hired to administer,supervise and staff the place, at least half are idiot trash. 	09/28/06 Miami-Dade JDC: To Officer Q.T. from Miami-Dade, I agree with most of your comments about the negative effects of the poorly written postings on this website from Miami-Dade. I disagree with you on one point,however. Jackson and Zackery have never put a single coherent message on this board. Their postings are usually as poorly written and stupid as the rest. Apparently they see themselves as some kind of leaders. Forget them. Call Gus yourself. I don't need any has beens to rep for me. The Department has no fear of last years news. 	09/28/06 Governor Candidates: Question: With a record of dishonesty, law violations, out of court settlements and misuse of his office in New York; why was Anthony Schembri appointed to a high state office in Florida? Question: After numerous scandals,cover-ups, incidents of abuse and death; why is Anthony Schembri still holding the high state office? The likely answers are not very pretty. Time for a major clean-up in Tallahassee. ~Tax Payer
	09/28/06 Miami-Dade JDC: I can not believe that DJJ can not find staff to serve in these facilities that can at least read and write on an elementary level? Essentially all the postings from Miami-Dade appear to come from very poorly educated and not very bright invividuals... Surely Gus Barreiro isn't really involved with all the dim bulbs that use his name. ~Anonymous
	09/28/06 Orange JDC: Did Pifer,Chinault,Disney, Williams or anybody deal with the confusion at Orange related to procedures for Suicide watch? Has anything been done about falsified watch logs or sleeping on duty? Will another kid be allowed to die unecessarily before corrective action is taken? The issue of the paper gown is secondary to the callous attitudes and lack of professionalism displayed by program staff. An immediate review of this facility may well prevent another DJJ tragedy ~Parent
	09/28/06 Osceola JDC: Morale has always been for the most part positive at Osceola Regional Juvenile Justice Detention Center. However since the addition of Sgt. Miguel Lopez to the Supervisory staff, subordinate staff morale has since gone through the roof. His consistent professionalism, outstanding communication skills, and unparalleled expertise of DJJ policy and procedures, is most remarkable... "Sgt. 	09/28/06 Orange JDC: One simple question: What is officer Anderson who is 8 months pregnant and officer Young who is 6 months doing working on the mod or in booking/intake ares. That is high risk. What is going to happen when a fight or pushing happens and one of them gets hurt. Please Supt. Williams open your eyes. They need to be doing light duty work. No matter what shift it is a risk. Place them in Master Control or Office duties. We do not need any more media attention or lawyers...... ~VERY CONCERNED OFFICER

	09/27/06 Orange JDC: They just got rid of the best Mental Health person since Inez, and why? Because he would not kiss Disney's ass like John does. We told Inez all along that there was a plot to get them out of here so that ass-kissing John could be brought over. Despite the many issues that I've read about on this site, I can truly say that I miss all of you SJJDO's and JJDO's. To Casimir, Ham, Wallace, Casey, and Neal,McGruder. Keep your heads up. To all of the others. Don't get discourage, but be encourage . None of us are the reason you have to work two jobs. When you took this position or when Mr. Williams offered it to you, both of you knew of the resposibilities your job would entail. 	09/26/06 Miami-Dade JDC: Stop drinking Hatorade - the breakfast beverage of Losers. Instead get some knowledge - which is power... You are assigned to work 8+ hours a day. Do your best and be open to change - which is going to come. Together we stand and divided we fall. If you ever read the headlines it says "Miami-Dade Detention Center...DJJ...Juvenile Detention, etc. Not once have they mentioned one individuals' name. But, some juveniles can choose to be processed in adult court, where the juvenile would have the benefit of a jury trial. 	09/25/06 Miami-Dade JDC: to the officer who is talking to perdomo shut your mouth about things u dont know about and the jokes were between two officers only perdomo and kaiser ! and by the way the tampa thing was kaiser not perdomo i do know that for one and kaiser is the bikemaster by the way so i heard, holla at him if u need lessons ! o one more thing perdomo's bike is off the chain real s*t get your own stop flossin on he's bike and step your game up ! ~Anonymous*
	09/25/06 Orange JDC: At ORJDC again we had an escape can't say that apparently a female prisoner was unshackled at hosp. Not following policy got out of hosp. to a friends home changed clothes and was picked up by OPD and this is not considered an escape I guess if she committed a crime while out of custody that would not been a crime or worse if she got hurt or killed you think other places have problems ~Anonymous
	09/25/06 Orange JDC: At ORJDC the wand produces more paper now then the original 10 min.sheets the money the supt. saved maybe could have repaired A/C in the buildings more than have the summer kids and staff suffered and our ask for help was just pushed side. We just had a lady with 18 yrs. fired because garage door came down on van she did not feel or here it but they did not believe her. ~Anonymous
	09/25/06 Orange JDC: Here at ORJDC we just went thru the month with the wand 8in. piece of steel pipe that reg. room checks we did not like the idea of putting that potential weapon on the floor as a protection for both staff and kids. But this paper saving ,money saving device was the option for the supt.It was grabbed once already and we know that the horror will eventully happen.Typical save money put people in jeopardy ~Anonymous

But i can appreciate the fact that you pathetic people had enough time on your hands to go around and ask questions about me and then go and turn the whole thing around and make it seem opposite of what it really is. 	09/25/06 Miami-Dade JDC: With all of the problems at Dade, all of the violations of workers rights and state policy and procedures, all of the unjust firings and mistreatment by superiors on staff, and all of the shameful things being done to youth throughout the department, the best we can do at Miami-Dade is gossip about whos sleeping with who. Very, very sad. With our priorities so out of whack, is it any wonder why the department keeps screwing us and getting away with it? ~Ofc Q.T
	09/25/06 Miami-Dade JDC: Despite all the complaining... most of the disgruntled ofcs at Dade enjoy the drama in their jobs. Actually, most of them are the cause of it. You have alot of great ofcs but a great bunch of them are causing the good ones to look bad with their rumor spreading... not one except for Jackson and Zachary have posted reasonable solutions to any of the problems... If you dont like your job THAT much then look for something else and leave! I know I am as soon as I can because things arent gonna get any better... ~Ofc. Q.T.
	09/25/06 Miami-Dade JDC: To the Miami ANONYMOUS, Regarding the masculinity of your dog. Don't worry what others say. My poodle Popsie is very sweet. Since he has been neutered he no longer cocks his leg. Does your dog have this problem too? I really don't care what meanies like those people with "big Balls" say. 	09/25/06 Other: The WONK is right about one thing. DJJ has been a mess for long time. Schembri may be a a known low-life con-man but he is not the whole problem. The lower-line DJJ administration is composed mostly of lackeys,loafers and climbers. Past Secretaries have largely been political errand boys and greedy takers. Maybe this department is beyond redemption. Scrub it and start clean from the beginning. Take out all of the old garbage and open the windows. Get some fresh air in those offices. ~State Employee

	09/25/06 Miami-Dade JDC: Once again this board has been favored with another fine example of scholarly prose from an employee at Miami-Dade JDC. The posting from Anonymous 9/24 made use of colorful words depicting feces, testicles, copulation and the confused gender orientation of his dog...the richness of his word choices created an excellent example of the quaility of this DJJ facility. One could gain an understanding of the status of DJJ facilities by observing such excellent examples of DJJ staff skills and intellectual capacities. Hopefully this scholarly writer will provide more... ~Anonymous

Does it not trouble you that he cheated and violated the law in New York and worst of all took advantage of a position of public trust? To no one's surprise the report indicated what DJJ already knew; that services at the Palm Beach JDC were seriously lacking and that state laws have been breached by the Department(See News Clips this Web Page). 	09/22/06 DJJ Policy: At the risk of sounding insensitive and non-PC I think part of the problem at many DJJ sites is the high number of lowly educated,poorly trained and ,frankly,not very bright staff. People of low moral character that produce children like puppies from liasions with different partners outside of marriage, collect every government hand-out available but have money for nail jobs, hair-dos, cell phones,bling. These people often act and speak crudely. Add to this mix leadership that is weak ,politically motivated and often corrupt and you see the results at many DJJ sites. 	09/20/06 Orange JDC: ORJDC's air conditioner has not been working on W-1 for at least 2 months now. When you have 30 or more youths and no air the smell is strong and the tension gets high. The same for E-1 and E-2. Today we had over 40 youths on each mod with no air. But worse are the molds,rats,roaches,ants,and terrible smell. Officer Colon worked for us and became very ill after working on the East side. Supt. Williams and Eason got rid of her stating that she was not performing well... Many staff are calling in due to headaches,stomach aches and when we complain then Supt. Williams will get rid of the staff. 	09/20/06 Other: The message sent to DJJ employees when a known crook was appointed Secretary was "get what you can while you can". Under the shield of political protection and in-house evaluation/assessment; DJJ has operated outside of any parameters of integrity or accountability. Poor performing administrators and contractors have florished while the public has been cheated. Troubled youth have suffered and even died in some cases. What an outrage! ~Tax Payer

	09/20/06 Miami-Dade JDC: To all the JDO's and sr JDOS keep a positive mind set. It seems like people who do not work with these crimnals we call kids can easily sit back and talk about the negative things all day. Unless you work "in the back" you will never understand how stressful the job is.when working with kids especially ruff kids. The officer has to play the parent,mediator,security,teacher,babysitter etc that position holds a lot of titles so my hats go off to all the officers who deal with the bull. ~REALITY

So why even waste time and public money on DJJ ,in-house,IG investigations, OA and QA reviews, or any other data gathering or reporting activity from the Department. The only purpose served by these charades is he provision of deception and cover for a broken department. I'm talking about the remarks about which staff are sleeping with each other... Where you and I apparently differ is that I encourage others to act as pro's instead of just carp about administration. 	09/19/06 Other: Suicide prevention is 5% mental health assessment and 95% supervision.You don't need mental health professionals constantly supervising. They can assess and give you a level of supervision. Detention staff can take it from there. No excusses. If it says constant supervision, provide it. If the youth attempts to harm himself, get assistance and get in the room and stop him. When the crisis passes, be a good listener and refer youth back to M/H for further assessment. Also, keep the youth busy with the rest of the population whenever possible. All youth in the general population are under constant supervision. ~Anonymous
	09/19/06 Miami-Dade JDC: This is to 'Still Your Friend I Hope' on 9/17. First...if you were my friend you would have not written what you wrote without knowing the facts first. For example, You write the names of everyone that worked in ARO at the time and that is fine because we have nothing to hide. You also write that the people who directed us to work there was Janice Walker, Sharon Shore, Eleese Davis, Ms. Maldonado-Gonzalez, etc. If you are an employee that worked there at that time you would have known that the administartion team you called was correct and you failed to mention the QA team. 	09/19/06 Orange JDC: To the Orange-JDC JDO, The concerned parent has it right. You should not be with emotionally distressed kids. You just don't get it. It isn't about the paper gown. It's about having a professional attitude and a little commom decency. Sure there are times when a paper gown is called for. At such times the kid should be under the watchful eye of a caring adult.
